Compression Spring Design Wizard
This wizard is aimed at the more novice users of SCP, who may need help knowing where to start with a new spring design. It walks you through either using the different design options (e.g. “Set 2 Parameters + 2 Loads/Lengths”) or defining the inputs for the new Designer window.
The Wizard guides users through the entry of data for a spring design in a step by step manner, and after the data has been entered the new Spring Designer can be used to finish the job, before passing the new design through for validation.
Spring Designer
The Spring Designer allows the design of an optimum spring to be carried out by changing the values of entered parameters. The Designer can accept data from the Wizard, or be used ‘stand alone’.
The data from the deisgner can be transferred quickly and easily to the Spring Calculator Professional Validation Screen.
Custom Data and Custom Calculations
This is an optional feature available at extra cost.
Custom Data
The custom data features allows you to define new input fields to cover any particular requirement you might have that isn’t included in SCP itself.
Custom Calculations
If there’s a property you need, or an unusual output that you have your own equations for, you can set up custom calculations. These can include complex equations or logic statements.
Custom Design Standard (Compression Only)
If you have your own in-house design rules, you can set this up here, including custom stress limits and your own rules (which can flag up as either warnings or errors).
Custom Tolerance Standard (Compression Only)
Similarly, you can define your own tolerance calculations, which could be as simple as percentages of the value, or much more complex calculations.
Custom Report Designer
This is part of the SCP Advanced Customisation module
We’re particularly excited about this! Many customers tell us they want the ability to create printout pages in their own company style. Using this tool, you can design really useful and detailed outputs, which are then instantly available on the printout window.
How do I get this upgrade?
This new version is available free of charge to anyone with an active support and maintenance contract. You should be prompted when it’s available, and the download and update process is quick and easy.
If you use a floating licence server, you should only need to update the SCP software itself on each user’s desktop.
If you get a message saying that a new version is available but you don’t have maintenance, get in touch at support@ist.org.uk to check your maintenance status and discuss getting back on board.
