Established in Rochdale in 1954 as The Nordale Spring Company Ltd, the business focused primarily on suppling the Aerospace, Defence, Marine and High Voltage Switchgear industries, which led to us attaining CAA and MOD approvals in 1957.
Adapting to the MOD’s decision in the early nineties to favour commercial quality management systems, the company acquired ISO 9001 accredited certification.
Our commitment to supporting the ever-increasing requirements of our customers resulted in the engagement of a team of highly experienced engineers to develop and manufacture a wide range of electric actuation products primarily to the aerospace industry.
In 2003, to reflect the changes to the core business the name of the company was changed to NEMA Ltd(Nordale Electro-Mechanical Actuation).
As the CAA approvals ceased the company went on to achieve AS 9100 accreditation in 2005, followed by the addition of Repair and Overhaul in 2009 and lastly Design and Development in 2011 as we brought more diversely skilled engineers in house, in response to our customers’ growing requirements.
NEMA currently holds AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications for our quality management system to cover all activities undertaken on site and aid us in meeting customer requirements as the company continues to grow.

NEMA specialise in designing, reverse / obsolescence engineering, building and supplying technically innovative, high speed motors and motor generators to the aerospace and defence sectors. An environmental policy against the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 has been established. This provides an effective framework within which to achieve this commitment and is made known to all through the established policy.
The main philosophy is to eliminate, reduce, recycle or reuse waste whilst continually seeking innovative ways in which to reduce energy and raw material usage whilst minimising emissions and hence reducing our carbon footprint.
